  to the following link for details on this group:                      Lycidae = Link 1             These are also known as the "net-winged"
  beetles."  The species are elongated and usually found on flowers
  or stems. Adults of some species feed on nectar while some adults are short
  lived and may not feed at all. The head is triangular and the antennae are
  long, thick, and serrated. Most dark reddish in color. They are toxic to
  predators which gives them protection.  
  The predaceous larvae grow under bark or in leaf litter.   = = = = =
